The modified Art-Loc® shingle is Sherriff-Goslin's most recent improved version of it's original patented shingle, which we have been using for over seventy years. It can be used as a re-roofing shingle over another layer of existing shingles, or as a primary shingle over wood sheathing. Either approach results in a smooth, windproof and watertight job. The Art-Loc® shingle is an interlocking type of shingle, held down at six different points.
Today's modified Art-Loc® shingles include an ingredient known as an SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) polymer, which is used to alter the properties of asphalt, to make asphalt tougher and more flexible. This SBS polymer dramatically slows down the aging process of the asphalt, providing superior waterproofing, low temperature flexibility, impact resistance, and extended life expectancy.
The modified Art-Loc® shingles carry a Class 4 Level of impact resistance, which is the highest level of protection against hail. Under specified application procedures they also carry a Class “A” Fire Resistance standard, which is the highest rating of three levels of fire resistance, and the shingle is wind rated for winds up to 80 mph.
